November 7, 2018 by Dennis Denno 2 Comments

11/8/18 Michigan Democrats outperform their national counterparts in the 2018 election, winning all of the state’s top Constitutional offices and almost everything else. Democrats also sweep state education board races and another seat on the state Supreme Court, where they may now have a working majority on key litigation. All three ballot proposals are approved by voters, but could there be trouble ahead? Interview with MIRS editor Kyle Melinn.  Sponsored by Deadline Detroit.

I enjoyed your podcast. There’s no need to let Snyder off the hook so easily, though. He gets a huge portion of blame. His actions directly impacted the enthusiasm of the party faithful. They went into these midterm elections with very few Republican accomplishments over the last eight years to get the base motivated. “We got our budgets done ahead of schedule every year”, makes a very poor rallying cry.

Thanks for listening. Personally, I think one of the problems that Republicans had in Michigan is that they controlled everything for eight years and now they wanted to run on change.
