Latest Polls on Snyder, Key Michigan Races

June 1, 2016 by tbreport Leave a Comment

(Reposted August 4) Gov. Rick Snyder’s job approval rating is WAY down, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump is trailing Democratic prez nominee Hillary Clinton, and the polls in the 1st Congressional district a month ago proved to be all wrong — they showed state Sen. Tom Casperson (R-Escanaba) leading former Sen. Jason Allen (R-Traverse City) for the GOP nomination (albeit with a majority of voters “undecided”), and Lt. General Jack Bergman with only 4% support. Bergman won.

Here’s the latest sample — in reverse chronological order — of the most recent polls tracking these three evaluations. If the numbers don’t add up to 100%, the rest are for respondents who are Undecided, Refuse to Answer, or Don’t Know (U/RtA/DK).

RICK SNYDER JOB APPROVAL RATINGS: Glengariff Group/Detroit News, May 24-26 — 40% Approve, 52% Disapprove; GG/DN, June 2015 — 55% Approve, 38% Disapprove; GG/DN, Oct. 2014 — 52% Approve, 45% Disapprove; GG/DN, May 2014 — 54% Approve, 39% Disapprove; GG/DN, June 2013 — 40% Approve, 45% Disapprove; GG/DN, Aug 2012 — 48% Approve, 39% Disapprove ; Aug. 2011, 40% Approve, 43% Disapprove.

PRESIDENTIAL RACE IN MICHIGAN: Glengariff Group/Detroit News, July 30-Aug. 1 — H. Clinton, 41%, Trump, 32%, Johnson (L), 8%, Jill Stein (Green), 3%;  Greenberg/Quinlan/Rosner: June 11-20 — Clinton, 48%, Trump, 33%, Johnson, 12%; Ballotpedia/Evolving Strategies: June 10-12 — Clinton, 47%, Trump, 30%, Gary Johnson (L), 14%; Detroit News/WDIV-TV: May 24-26 — Clinton, 43%, Trump, 39%; Survey USA, March 23-24 — Clinton, 49%,Trump, 38%; EPIC-MRA, March 19-22 — Clinton, 47%, Trump, 37%; NBC/Wall Street Journal/Marist, March 1-3 — Clinton, 52%, Trump, 36%; Marketing Resource Group, Feb. 22-27 — Clinton, 44%, Trump, 39%; EPIC-MRA/Detroit Free Press/WXYZ-TV, Oct. 25-31, 2015 — Clinton, 46%, Trump, 38%.

RACE FOR GOP NOMINATION IN 1st CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT (all of Upper Peninsula and northern tip of Lower Peninsula): Denno Research/MIRS, May 21 — Tom Casperson, 24%,  Jason Allen, 16.5%, Jack Bergman, 4% (55.5% U/RtA/DK). Casperson leads Allen, 53%-5% in U.P., with 42% U/RtA/DK; in Lower Peninsula portion of district, it’s Allen, 23%, Casperson, 7%, and Bergman, 6%, with 64% U/RtA/DK (FINAL RESULT: Bergman, 38%, Casperson, 33%, Allen 29%.)
