PODCAST: Sex scandal @MSU gropes pols/GOP tag team gangs up on Schuette/Pot & Prevailing Wage

January 12, 2018 by Dennis Denno Leave a Comment

Should the Michigan Legislature hold the state’s taxpayers harmless if they lose their personal exemption due to the new tax reform law passed by Congress? Why are there so many candidates running to succeed U.S. Rep David Trott in the 11th Congressional District? Three Republican candidates for governor, minus Bill Schuette, say they’ll team up in a series of town halls around the state. Should the two Republican candidates for the U.S. Senate do the same thing? Is this a campaign gimmick—or should voters be grateful they’ll get a chance to know the candidates? Will enough signatures be validated on petitions to force an initiated law banning the prevailing wage? Who should have investigated MSU’s mishandling of the Larry Nassar sex scandal long before now—Attorney General Bill Schuette or Democratic gubernatorial candidate Gretchen Whitmer? Sponsored by Deadline Detroit.

Thank you for visiting! You have let us know that what we produce about Michigan politics and government matters to you. More people than ever are reading and listening to what we put on our news site, and the 2022 election was especially momentous. Your support makes all the difference.

As you know, unlike many news websites, we haven’t put up a paywall. We want to keep our journalism as open as we can, but we need to ask for your help. We are editorially independent, meaning we set our own agenda. Our journalism remains truly free from commercial influence or bias. We are not subsidized. We don’t put up paid advertisements. No one edits our Editor. No one steers our opinion.

But The Ballenger Report (TBR) takes time, money and hard work to produce. If everyone who reads or listens to our material — and likes it! — helps to support it, our future would be much more secure.

Whatever you might want to contribute will help TBR continue. Thank you.
