NOV. 13 TOWNHALL IN FLINT ON MUNDY TOWNSHIP MEGASITE

November 5, 2025 by tbreport 8 Comments

ADVISORY TO MEDIA & ALL TBR READERS:
Ballenger Eminent Persons Lecture Series
Public Forum on the Mundy Township Megasite Development
Free and Open to the Public

FLINT, Mich. – As part of its commitment to fostering informed dialogue on issues
affecting the region, the Ballenger Eminent Persons Lecture Series will host a public
townhall-type forum on the proposed Mundy Township advanced manufacturing site
(megasite development). Just because the SanDisk corporation this past summer pulled
out of its plans to locate a plant in Mundy Twp doesn’t mean such a project won’t
materialize in the future. This public discussion and question and answer session about
what is next is free and open to the community.

DATE: Thursday, November 13th

TIME: 7:00 p.m.

LOCATION: Ballenger Fieldhouse, Mott Community College, Flint Main Campus

FORMAT: Panel & Public Discussion and Q&A Session

The proposed megasite development has generated extensive public debate across
Genesee County and the entire State of Michigan. To help foster informed community
dialogue, the 70-year-old Ballenger Eminent Persons Lecture Series has convened a panel
of distinguished voices representing multiple perspectives:

● Hon. Dan Kildee, former U.S. Congressman and current CEO of the Greater Flint
Community Foundation

● State Senator John Cherry II (D-SD 27), representing the district that includes Mundy
Township

● James Hohman, Director of Fiscal Policy at the Mackinac Center for Public
Policy

● JoAn Mende, local engineer and Mundy Township resident who has testified
before a State House Subcommittee on the mega-site development

“This is the longest continuously-running speaker series in Michigan and by far the best.
Next week, we are presenting exactly the kind of public dialogue the
Ballenger Eminent Persons Lecture Series was designed to foster,” says Bill Ballenger.
“We welcome all members of the community for open discussion and to hear directly
from some of the people shaping the future of this important local issue.”

The forum will be moderated by Jim Kiertzner, veteran television journalist with 40
years of experience in Mid-Michigan, Detroit and throughout the State.
RSVPs are requested for planning purposes, but even without registering,
just show up — you won’t regret it!

I’m making $90 an hour working from home. i was greatly surprised at the same time as my neighbour advised me she changed into averaging $100 however I see the way it works now. I experience mass freedom now that I’m my non-public boss. Everybody must try this job now by just using this website..

Engineer Mende and/or her sidekick Seppo should be asked about the availability and cost of heavy power at the Mundy site.

On Thursday, the Michigan Public Service Commission approved Consumers Energy’s application to amend the terms and conditions under which it will provide heavy power to commercial and industrial electric customers. The agreement is intended to protect Consumers’ other ratepayers from subsidizing data centers, but does nothing to improve the availability of heavy power, or its costs.

The agreement does not extend to DTE, which is pursuing secret agreements with commercial and industrial electric customers requiring heavy power. Attorney General Dana Nessel filed a notice of intervention before the Michigan Public Service Commission on Thursday challenging DTE’s request for approval of two secret contracts to service the anticipated Saline data center. This also does nothing to improve the availability of heavy power, or its costs.

The Mundy Township Megasite is in Consumers’ service area.

I’ve asked if it will be live-streamed, and others have, too…I haven’t heard, but I hope so!
