Huffington Post: Anger at NPR for Tweeting Declaration of Independence

National Public Radio (NPR)  tweeted the Declaration of Independence, and people got angry and confused.

Many seemed to think the news organization was calling for a revolution against President Donald Trump.

National Public Radio has been reading the Declaration of Independence on air every Fourth of July for the past 29 years. This year, as an added celebration, they also tweeted the entire Declaration in 140-character segments.

However, some people did not recognize the lines from the cherished American document and thought that NPR was criticizing current President Donald Trump, instead of the Founders’ criticisms of King George III back in 1776. Some Twitter users accused NPR of inciting violence.

Many people called for NPR to be defunded because of bias.

Some people even called the Declaration “trash.”

Other Twitter users were quick to point out that NPR was just tweeting out one of the most well-known documents in our nation’s history.

Meanwhile, President Trump celebrated the holiday by hosting members of the military at the White House.
